After earning his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, Dr. Ona went through his required patient care training. He completed an internal medicine residency at New York University Langone Hospital - Brooklyn (formerly Lutheran Healthcare) including serving as chief resident during his third year of residency, and a gastroenterology fellowship at The Brooklyn Hospital Center (affiliate: Mount Sinai Hospital).

To further his education and experience, Dr. Ona finished an additional fellowship in advanced endoscopy at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He’s currently board certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine in both gastroenterology and internal medicine.

Dr. Ona has three masters degrees and he regularly takes continuing education courses including advanced training in nutrition. He helps patients manage their diets when they have long-term conditions such as obesity, chronic heartburn, irritable bowel syndrome, and fatty liver disease.
